Competition has been long been part of Hip-Hop culture. The music of that culture is no different. From Rakim's No Competition, to I'm Still #1 by KRS-One, cats that felt like they were that deal, said so on the mic. Hell, even Nelly attempted to have his say on whose the best. That's why I was happy after hearing the Big Sean song, Control that featured Jay Electronica and Kendrick Lamar.

I went to see Forks over Knives when it came out at the theater. I really enjoyed it and recently re-watched it on DVD. Nice little documentary, you should check it out.  It inspired me to post a healthy food centric joints.

KRS One - Ah Yeah!

 I felt compelled to post this verse from Kris but I was not entirely certain as to why. The message is cool, but it's not his deepest stuff. The flow is tight, however it represents a mere fraction of his ability. The word play is pretty straightforward as well. Perhaps it's the energy, or delivery. Perhaps is just me as an old man reminiscing to a time lost.

Not just becuase its dope (I haven't listened to it yet) Not even because you like him. Buy it because you believe in the artistry in hip hop music, and not in overly judgmental label executives. Buy it because you believe ones music should not be "directed" by A&Rs' and marketing/promotion, but by the artist. Buy it as a a big middle finger to label executives who think folks will only purchase main stream released music that has a dance, r&b hook, or some other gimmick. Buy it because you believe hip hop music is about rhyming ....beats and rhymes....

Yeah I know I fell off in a MAJOR way but i'm trying to get back on my grind so cut me some slack.

Between my little girl, and the major time and energy suck that is my job I have had very little motivation to post.
